The Wilder Gown, Pattern Review

Forever ago, I promised you a review of The Wilder Gown by Friday Pattern Company.

I mentioned I was a bit disappointed over parts of this pattern, and naturally I would like to elaborate.

Olya Shirt by Paper Theory

In recent times I usually only make a blog post if I have a lot to say or if I have a relevant tutorial I want to post together with the pattern. That might not be the case with the Olya Shirt from Paper Theory. I simply just think that pattern deserves a blog post, ha. It's on my top 10 of favorite things I've ever sewn, maybe even top 5. 

Actually I do have a tutorial I want to post with this pattern but I forgot to take the photos while sewing this shirt (doh!), but luckily I needed the same technique for the next thing I sewed, so I'm going to put it in that post instead and link from this post. You can find the tutorial HERE.

Como Set, StyleARC

I hope you are ready to cringe and chuckle. I did something SO dumb and I dedicate this post to the face palm!

And even though I could have made this post without telling you, I definitely want to use it as an opportunity to remind everyone to not "be like Mie", ha.

I have already declared on Instagram that I have a newfound friendship with the Inari Tee Dress from Named Clothing. That was when I posted a burgundy version.

Oversized Sweatshirts and Knit Pencil Skirts

I feel like my sewing is rather random most of the time. If I have a plan it usually gets overtaken by something else that catches my attention. Or if I buy fabric with the intention for a specific pattern, I would say three out of four times it ends up as something else.

Not this time.....

No. 8 Svaneke by How To Do Fashion

Today I'm FINALLY blogging about How To Do Fashion's No. 8 Svaneke Pattern. It was kindly sent to me for review purpose last summer. Yes, big time yikes I'm so sorry for the delay!

Before I accepted this gift I made sure that I was still able to make an honest review and it was granted with an "of course". I like companies and designers that are confident in their product and in this case the confidence is justified. It's a great pattern!

A Year of Sew Japan with Mie.

A year ago my dear friend Celina asked me if I wanted to be on her Petit a Petit + Family blog team. I could do whatever I wanted. And together we talked about how fun it could be to sew a Japanese pattern (or two) every month during 2016. Sew Japan with Mie was born!

I almost made it though the year but ran out of steam in the last two months. BUT let's focus on the 10 months I did make something instead of the 2 I didn't. Yup, good plan, Batman!

There is not going to be a lot of talk in this post because I have done all of that in the different posts and I'm linking to them all from this post. I think I'll take a little break with Japanese sewing patterns and instead try to sew a capsule wardrobe with Celina's Project Sew It Facebook group (just search: Project Sew it on Facebook). All you have to do is ask to join. Every month has a theme and in January we are sewing sweaters and cardigans. You can sew for yourself, your kids, your husband and choose whatever pattern you want. Only rule is to have fun! I have already made my first cardigan of 2017 and I'm hoping to get a quick post done this week.

Burda Style 02/2016 #105+106

So it's the week of Thanksgiving here in the US and I don't know if anyone has time for blog posts but I've had these photos hanging out on my computer for over a month and it felt like time to send them out in cyperspace.

 Today I'm very excited to show you the three versions of the Kastrup Top from the Danish pattern maker How To Do Fashion. It's not me who has been pattern hacking. You actually get all three versions when you buy the pattern.

The Everyday Blouse + Mini Side Slit Hem Tutorial

Today I'm giving you another post that includes a mini tutorial. I kind of enjoy making those....more than a big twenty photos full garment type of tutorial at least.

So when I'm sewing a little detail that I think you might be interested in, I simply snap a few photos with my phone which I usually have at hand and get the best out of it.

This is the Everyday Blouse by House of Pinheiro/UpCraft Club. And the mini tutorial is for a side slit hem.

Inari Tee and Pleated Pencil Skirt.

I have made a deal with myself to sew more of my favorite patterns in my stash. I think we can all agree that it is very easy to be caught up in the next new pattern and even though we say to ourselves "I'm definitely making ten more of these because I loved the fit/style/whatever so much" it doesn't always happen. Or at least I don't always get around to it - I should only speak for myself, right! But I'm determined to change that. Because when sewing for myself I always take the time to get the fitting right to my body, and I always make the changes to the paper pattern too, so that next time is SO much easier to sew...although a new type of fabric of course can throw things off.
