Today I have a photo heavy and text light post for you.
That's usually how it goes when you sew something you love. Not much to say but a lot to show off, right!
This is the Pony Tank Pattern from Chalk and Notch in a dress version.
And nope, this time it's not me going all hack attack on a pattern. The Pony Tank pattern also contains a dress length. Yay!
I added 15 cm / 6" at the pattern's lengthen line and that is the absolutely only change I did.
I'm 178 cm / 5'10" for those of you trying to figure out what length to make yours in.
Because it's not a matter of if you should make it. It's a matter of when!
I seriously can't get over how much I love this dress.
Look, the straps from my everyday bra is not even showing.
It has been drafted with a tight fitting armhole and as you can see the fit is spot on.
This is a size 8 btw.
It's also been drafted for knit fabrics with lots of drape and it turned out I had the perfect type in my stash just waiting to be turned into this dress.
THIS bamboo/spandex knit from Mood Fabrics. And I know it looks dark purple on the website but don't worry it's pretty royal blue in real life.
Also check out THIS post on Chalk and Notch's blog where the pattern has been sewed up in different types of knit. Lots of great and interesting info there!
The ribbing is THIS awesome navy blue and cream striped ribbing from Nosh Fabrics.
I'm not sure how it ended up looking black and cream but navy blue it is.
Here is a closer look at the neckline. I basted it on first with my sewing machine, then serged the SA and lastly I used the chain stitch function on my coverstitch machine for a visible stretchy stitch. That way the seams will stay more flat even after washing which is always a plus in my book.
The pattern itself is just as amazing as all the other Chalk and Notch patterns and I give them my highest recommendation!
I love the slightly curved hem.
Sometimes even small details can make a difference.
Yup, this is how I feel in this dress. Just plain awesome.
I can't imagine a more suitable dress for upcoming hot summer days!
