The blue dress

First of all I wish I looked like that in the morning and not big puffy eyes and crazy hair!

Second this is a good example of why I love jersey dresses. 

She wore it all day yesterday plus she slept in it too (yes, she really love this blue dress) and it still looks like the way it did when I pulled it out of her closet....okay, except a couple of spots here and there but you know what I mean :-) 

This was a model I had in my former company 'Pilborg' (my family middle name - yes, we have stuff like that in Denmark :-) And I have always (okay, since I had kids) wanted to make it for children. The joy was even bigger when it worked in first try.

Stretch fabrics can in some ways be a bit harder to make patterns for because you can not only rely on measurements. You have to take into consideration how much stretch there is in the fabric. If you made a jersey dress following a persons measurements you would be quite certain to end up with a dress that is too big. My advice to someone who wants to make their own jersey pattern is to use a t-shirt/dress (with fairly the same stretch as the fabric you want to use) as a starting point and then work your way from there. And then of course have a fitting or two along the way.

Narrow corduroy color block skirt.

Here is Evelyn reeeeaally close to the TV....and even better with her back to me and in a perfect position to have her photo taken posing this skirt.

I love that it is a bit more narrow than many of the other skirts I have made and it is REALLY easy to make. This will be one of the first ones that I make a tutorial for.

I have made the leggings too. Here they are rolled up and are making her ready for a hot spring day outside (no not today) and cold air con inside. (Why Americans WHY does it have to be SO cold inside?? :-)

There was no way I was going to plan a photo shoot expecting them to put on all the clothes I showed in The first post. Everyone who has kids at a certain age (hmmm, I wish I could be more specific but I really do not know when  this I'm-against-most-things-Mommy-asks-age is over??). 
So whenever I get a chance I'll take photos of the girls wearing what I have made. 

This is what Wilma wore to preschool today. 

After my opinion the perfect school attire. All in soft stretchy cotton and with leggings under so they can still roll around and stick their legs up in the air....if that's what they feel like....and they might do....and they are so welcome to.
Okay enough with the rhyming and on with the day!

The first post!

This is what I have made the last year - give or take.
Ooookay it kind of looks like a lot when you hang it like that....but don't worry a lot of it is made from the same patterns (in other words I'm not completely nuts and my kids do get fed on occasions :-)


Unless it says something else I have made the patterns myself.
I'm going to make sewing tutorials along the way on some of these things.....I want you to come back, right!

I have raided the kid's closet and found most of what I have made like the last year. 

Love corduroy and color block....there is no denying it!!

Yep, more corduroy....and some quilting fabric for variation. The pink skirt is Oliver + S Hopscotch Skirt.

I love jersey dresses for girls. They look fabulous and they still feel comfortable. I kind of dress that way myself too!

5 versions of Oliver + S Hopscotch Dress....wow, have I really made that many of the 'same' dress?! Oh well, they have been used a lot.

2 versions of Oliver + S Ice cream Dress. I think the pattern is very wide and I added smock in the waist to one of them. That worked very well and gave the dress a completely new (and better) look, yay! 

Oliver + S Music Box shorts...with and without piping.

A little section of vests in prequilted fabrics....yeah, I'm not really quilting my own fabrics (yet?!)

Oliver + S Music Box Jumper with original sleeves and a shorter version with elastic. I'm so going to extend that to a dress......very soon!!

The pants with chambray and leopard was the first try at making a cut like that so they are kind of simple and has no pockets. 

Here you see the second pair in purple and navy corduroy (of course!) and with purple back pockets. I'll show more photos with details another good time. My nephew was the lucky one....he ended up with a pair in dark denim and dark grey corduroy with all the details like front and back pockets and belt loops...yep, lucky boy :-)
